Sick days (but few days off)
It can be extremely difficult at times to deal with brain fog and other issues. I’ve been sick over the last couple of weeks. [I suspect I may have caught something from a young lady at Winter Jam 2023 who was hanging all over me convinced that she knew me from a summer camp.]
So, for a little less than a week now, I’ve been dealing with cough, runny nose, sore throat and other flu/allergy like symptoms. Part of my Cerebral Palsy includes having a low tolerance for pain and lots of brain fog. Most of this week has involved sleeping in, and lots of essential oils in the diffuser necklace my parents purchased for me for Christmas, attempting to get better. (My personal favorites are tea tree and eucalyptus for congestion, peppermint and orange for soreness and brain fog.)
Melatonin gummies have been one of my best friends, too. [I really should stop typing this post now and go take some as it’s after midnight and I’m working the clock on a deadline, so I desperately need sleep. Scheduling this to post in the morning it is.]
What being sick shows me, however, is that I’m a lot stronger than I appear. My body has learned to power through the aches and pains, and I’m now on what seems to be the tail end of my sickness.
This week has been a lot of bodily rest (sleep, comfort TV shows) and warm drinks like coffee or tea, along with plenty of water! Hopefully I’ll be on the other side soon!
I want to hear from you: When you’re sick, what helps [brings you comfort, and makes you feel better]?
